Our investment management philosophy is rooted in long-term investment strategies that incorporate the principles of Modern Portfolio Theory. We focus on capturing asset classes globally at a low cost, investing in accordance to our client's goals and risk tolerance, and taking advantage of tax saving opportunities when presented.
Learn More About Our Investment Core Beliefs— Risk and return are related. The cost of capital is the expected return. In order to achieve higher expected return, you must take a higher degree of risk.
— Successful investing is best achieved over the long-term by implementing a clearly defined investment policy and focusing on total return.
— Markets work. Investor returns are determined principally by asset allocation decisions, not market timing or stock picking.
— Broadly diversified investment portfolios can reduce risk and secure capital market rates of return.
— Discipline helps avoid fear and greed. It also helps to maintain the investment objectives agreed upon between the client and advisor.
— Costs make a difference. Simple.

Some FAQ's We Get
How do I go about seeing if we would be a fit?
Simple—schedule a consultation. It typically goes like this: We will have a 30-minute or so discussion over the phone. Our goal for this call is 3-part. We want to familiarize ourselves with your situation, identify the financial painpoints you may be feeling, and determine if there's enough value in working together. If so, we will collect documents and put in 20-30 hours of work and present you our findings. This hour-long meeting is always an eye-opening experience. You'll get to see your finances and goals in a new light. It's invigorating... and free. Only if you truly see the value will we move forward in working together.
What if I don't live in Texas?
No issues there! We work with clients virtually all across the U.S. We also make trips to visit clients when necessary.
How do you charge?
Each of our three services (investment management, financial planning, and tax prep & filing) have a fee associated with it. Typically the investment management fee is a percentage of assets under management and the other two services are a monthly retainer. You'll know the total fee once we present the analysis on your situation so you can make a decision that's right for you from there.
Who holds my money?
We have a relationship with Charles Schwab. Do we work for Schwab? No. They are simply the bank, if you will, that custodies your funds. We don't ever take possession of client funds and your money can only be distributed between accounts at Schwab and your personal bank account(s). Most importantly, cash is FDIC-insured and securities are protected by SIPC.
What truly makes you unique in the vast sea of advisors?
Well... a lot. Start with being independent and having a fiduciary obligation to our client's best interest. That eliminates most of the Wall Street, big-name firm advisors. Next, we have an academic investment philosophy. So many advisors still sell clients on products or funds that are supposed to outperform all while they line their pockets. We don't. Finally, we're as comprehensive as it comes. Very few firms handle taxes for clients on top of the other services. This coordinated advice is what is lacking in this industry.
Do you require a minimum asset amount or monthly fee to work together?
We're notorious for investing in relationships over compensation. Saying that, not everyone is a fit. We encourage you to reach out regardless. The worst case is we refer you to resources or professionals that can help at no cost.
